The God of the Holy Bible Vs. Freemasonry

As "year by year" the tree adds another ring to its circumference, so every age has added to the truth of the Bible. "Guthrie

"There are no songs comparable to the songs of Zion, no orations equal to those of the prophet's, and no politics like those which the scriptures teach. "Milton

"The Bible" should be to you not a book only, but a speaking trumphet through which God speaks from a far to you, so that you can catch the very tones of his voice. "Spurgeon

A mystery is not something that cannot be known, but a "hidden secret" to be revealed in it's time. "B.Huldah

"It is written

For Jesus said: No man, when he hath lighteth a candle, coverth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed: but sitteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid that shall not be known and come abroad. Luke 8:16,17. For it is written in the book of Ephesians. Chapter 5, vs. 6-12. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Revelation 22: 17-21 -  And the spirit and the bride say, come, and let them that heareth say, come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will. let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things that are written in this book. He which testify these things saith, Surley I come quickly, Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

           George Washington Inaugural Bible

George Washington Inaugural Bible sent to Washington D.C. for swearing in ceremony for George W. Bush; which did not take place. Chaney laid his hand upon the masonic Bible when swore in as vice President. It is claimed that Bush didn’t get to lay his hand upon it, because it began to rain and it's keeper's didn’t want to jeopardize the historical Bible being ruined; so George W. Bush pledge is oath upon his own Masonic Bible.

George Washington’s Bible escorted by three master Mason’s

“The Bible is the King James Version, complete with the Apocrypha and elaborately supplemented with the historical, astronomical and legal data of that period. There are numerous artistic steel engravings portraying Biblical narratives from designs and paintings by old masters and engraved by the celebrated English artist, John Stuart. The Bible was presented to the Lodge by Jonathan Hampton on November 28th, 1770, the Sight he was made Master, and the records disclose the interesting fact that this now priceless book was the altar Bible of the Lodge in 1789, when Washington was inaugurated.

There are several versions of the Holy Bible, but there is one version that the Freemason's add their history to, and that is the King James version

Is Freemasonry a religion; if so what religion? We will examine the history of Freemasonry to determine what connections freemasons have with scripture. The Holy Bible is a part of the Lodge, and is known as the Great light in Freemasonry which reveals the ancient mysteries of all ages. Do the ceremonies’ held by these men relate to religious acts or an Occult act? As we begin to search for understanding of the Three Great Lights in freemasonry according to their doctrine, we will unravel it’s orgin as to what light Freemasons look to. Is this light the light that is spoken of in John chapter 1:4-9, and John 8:12, or a light that can be seen as like unto the sun, moon, and stars? For example Genesis 1:3 God said let there be light and there was light, and that light was called day, (Genesis 1:5). Also in Genesis 1:14-18 and God said let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night: and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also; and God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth. And to rule over the day, and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

Why was the Freemasons history added to the Holy Scriptures? The Bible has been a history book used by great and powerful men down through the ages, it has influenced mankind since it's inception. To some of us the Bible is a guiding light that helps correct, instruct and reprove us; to keep us on the straight and narrow path; for the purpose it was intended. Others use it for treasure hunting, archeology purposes, and traditions of worship. According to the internal workings of freemasonry the operations of the craft are preeminently religious: many of it most meaningful symbols are scriptural in origin. They claim that the ritual included in their ceremonies’ are based largely upon the word of God, but that does not mean upon the God who's son was Jesus Christ. If their ritual and ceremonies are based upon the word of God; then those rituals should not be kept secret; for Christ did nothing in secret, but did all things in the open that men would give praise unto God? The Word of God explains many types of worship that other nations were subject to. There are many false religions talked about in the Holy Scriptures, with the Nations and peoples that honored those false gods. The Bible also provides who the false gods were, and how they were being worshiped.

The Masonic Bible gives a list of questions and Answers. Let's look at some of the questions and answers. (Q) What are the furnishings of the Masonic lodge? (A) The Holy Bible, square, compass, and a charter of dispensation. The Lodge technically is a piece of furniture in imitation of the Ark of the Covenant constructed by Bezaleel (Exodus 37:1) (Q) Lodge: What is the covering of the lodge. (A) It is the "celestial canopy of starry decked heaven." (Q) Lodge: When is it said to be just. (A) When furnished with the great lights. (Q) Masonry: What is the probable antiquity? (A) It is admitted the masonry is descended from the ancient mysteries. These were first arranged when the constellation Leo was in Saturn at the summer solstice. Thus the Antiquity of Masonry is written in the starry heavens. (Q) Name: By what name were the masons anciently known? (A) Long before the building of King Solomon's Temple, Mason were known as The "Sons of Light." Now according to these answers we can clearly see that freemasons believe that they are descendants of the ancients, but what ancients? and that these ancients had mysteries; but what are the mysteries that has guided these men to give them charge to put their history into the most historical book of all time; The Holy Bible? Their claim is: they were known as the sons of light.

As we begin our search for the Three Great Lights in masonry we begin with a quote from a freemason Bible dated 1928; King James translation with the Freemason record of documentation put before the holy scripture as a witness to the beginning and history of the Freemasons. They state at the beginning of their history that light is a fundamental requirement for the welfare of their soul. For in the early stage of their development for intellectual and spiritual advancement one prostates himself in reverence before the Sun, adores the moon, venerates the stars, worship flames which is own hands have kindled. For him evil rides in the clouds which blacken the sky, in the impenetrable shadows of eclipse, in night time, in the darkness of forest or cavern; goodness and joy come surging in upon him from the eastern sky, born on swift wheels by the chariots of the dawn. This is a discription of Apollo! They claim that this inborn craving for light is a simple fact of human experience; which Freemasonry has taken full cognizance thereof, making of the fact that keystone is that vast arch of allegory, symbol, emblem, and rite that supports the Fraternity’s whole superstructure. 1928 Masonic Bible, quote: Through the natural development the Holy Bible has come to be the chief symbol of that light: other symbols there are, but this is the most important one of them all. At a certain stage of that strange journey which all brethren and fellows must make, the neophyte discovers that his craving for light has become irresistible, no longer to be denied or repressed. As this light becomes radiant emanating from the volume of the Scared Law which Freemasonry keeps forever upon their altar’s; then for the first time he learns that there are Three Great Lights, but the greatest of these is the Holy Bible. The other two Great Lights would be the SUN, and the MOON.

Other furnishing of the lodge, known as tools (square and compasses); brings establishment and structure to confer and measure the positioning of the building and it‘s members; representing the zodiac when the sun and moon enters it’s position into a constellation directing the advancement of degrees that passes the apparent path of all principle planets. This is known as the great work! The compass and square are instruments used in geometry, as the emblem of Justice, and for this it is that everyone has their old land marks restored unto them. This is understood in the construction of building at which direction points to the desired place that's lined up under certain constellations.

The 1928 edition proclaims; that not only are these Lights said to be Just, but states that these Three Great Lights are the furnishings that makes the lodge perfect. Now the lodge in particular is a piece of furniture in imitation of the Ark of the covenant which Bezaleel constructed after departure from Egypt, Exodus 37:1. The ornaments of the Lodge; the starry decked ceiling, the Masonic pavement, indented tassel, the blazing star, and pillars. The Lodge represents King Solomon Temple which Freemasons believe is a symbol of the Universe. The Lodge in precession rotates the priests to set in order the functions of the Lodge, just as Moses put his brother Aaron and his sons as High priest before the tabernacle of witness. This concurs the positions of the members that are set in place in the Lodge. This tradition of worship was first seen with the priest of Egypt in adoration to the sun god.

So what references did the freemasons use in  tradition of worship from the Holy Bible? Several scriptures come to mind to reveal our quest to find out the works that are done in Freemasonry according to doctrine in the Three Great Lights in Freemasonry.

1st reference: Deuteronomy 4:15-20 - Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air, the likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth: And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven. But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.- Now we see that the Lord is explaining: to remember where he took them out from and why, reminding them not to do as the Egyptians do. Not to look to the vastness of the universe lest you heart be turned to it, and becomes servants unto it. The Lord clearly shows that the science of worship was seen in Egypt.

2nd reference: 2 Kings 23:2-5 - And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD. And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant. And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel. And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven. - Here we see that this type of worship is a type of idolatry which leads to breaking the Scared Law of God.

3rd reference: 1 Kings 1-20 - But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house. He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; the length thereof was an hundred cubits, and the breadth thereof fifty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams upon the pillars. And it was covered with cedar above upon the beams, that lay on forty five pillars, fifteen in a row. And there were windows in three rows, and light was against light in three ranks. And all the doors and posts were square, with the windows: and light was against light in three ranks.

See link: Solomon house 13 years in building

Here we see that Masonary tools combines together with the ritual of the great work. The Temple of Freemasonry is not the temple that Solomon built according to David’s vision, but is the building of Solomon’s house according to a porch relating to Pharaoh’s daughter. This house was thirteen years in building. The Temple that David had a vision for was a temple Solomon built to house the Ark of the Covenant; which was seven years in building, yet Solomon house shows according to scripture that this work which masonry copied is related to Solomon own house not the house he built for the Lord. Masonry building’s can clearly be seen of Solomon building is own house using the windows where light was against light in three ranks. According to the Hebrew dictionary these lights were to be gazed upon through these windows, see Hebrew concordance 1 Kings 7:5 windows: reference #’s 8261, 8260, and 8259. Now the light gazed upon according to Hebrew dictionary: reference #8260: This was a loop hole for looking out, and to admit air and light, as the light of the sun or moon that could be seen through this opening. Now the number three as in rank, and according to the light against light in three ranks. The word three according to the Hebrew #7991, shalosh: a triangle - representing a officer, a General of the third rank, upward the highest Captain. And according to freemasonry you have the officer of the Lodge, the Captian of the Lodge, and the supreme General Commander, being the Master Mason. Thus forming the triangle of duties. This to the Masons represented the Kabalistic composition for Solomon. The three principle officers of a Masonic Lodge, Sol, the sun; Om, The meridian sun, On, The setting sun. Worshipful master, Sr. Warden, Jr. Warden.

And Solomon made a porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits: and the porch was before them: and the other pillars and the thick beam were before them. Then he made a porch for the throne where he might judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from one side of the floor to the other. And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh's daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this porch. All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside toward the great court. And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits. And above were costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars. And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house. 1 Kings 7:8

1 Kings 7:12-22 - And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre. He was a widow's son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work. For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about. And he made two chapiters of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits: And nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter. And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter. And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits. And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other chapiter. And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.   The Mason bible tells you that these pillars of the porch did not originate with King Solomon, but they are represented in many monuments of greater age. In Tyre, They stood before the Great Temple of Meltarth. "QUOTE" Masonic Bible:  In Egypt they represented Osiris (Strenght) and Isis (Establishment). See: America Masonic Secret History.

The Phoenician divinities of Tyre were primarily local gods. Besides the gods of the cities, there were gods of the mountains. As possessors they were called Baal; as lords, adon; as rulers, melekh , same as MOLOCH/MOLECH. Their worshipers were" protégés," or 'abhadhim; sexual antitheses were prominent in their religious system. The divinities were usually named after the place where they were honored: Baal , the god of Tyre; Baal Zidon, the god of Sidon; Ba'alath Gebal, the goddess of Byblus, or in the high place Bamah. When the Phoenicians founded a new colony, they established there a new seat for the cult of their native gods, whose authority did not transcend the limits of the new settlement. In common parlance the Phoenicians spoke of  Baal or ba'alath without any qualifying phrase, but there was no divinity so named. The feminine form ba'atath was relatively rare, its place being taken by 'ashtart, so that Astarte, or Ashtoreth, appears in the Old Testament as the goddess par excellence of the Sardinians (Phoenicians) see ASTARTE; ASHERA; BAAL); Queen of Heaven,

See: Jeremiah 44:15-30. - Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind? So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows. Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth. Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them. Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or their's. And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil: Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.

Few Phoenician gods are known by specific names. The one most frequently mentioned was Melkarth (Hercules), the "King of the City (of Tyre)." Eshmun, greatly honored in Sidon, and compared with Asculapius, seems to have been a god of health and healing. Proper names often contain the divine names (" Hunter, Fisher ) possibly connected with the name Sidon. Among the foreign gods were the Egyptian Isis, Osiris, Horus, Bast, and Thoth; the Syrian Resheph and 'Anat; and the Babylonian Tammuz, Hadad, and Dagon. The Phoenicians, like the Canaanites, were accustomed to place by the altars sacred stones as the abode of the deity, pillars being substituted later for natural stones. Such pillars were called matzeba, or in the Hebrew: Muwcabbah or Muwcab meaning: a TURN, CIRCUIT (OF A BUILDING) WINDING ABOUT, AND THE NAME WRITTEN THEIR ON THE STONE, WAS USED IN TRANSMUTATION OF THE NAME, MEANING TO CALL FORTH; also  nazib, or hammanim, and were regarded as animate. In the cult of female divinities, the sacred stone was replaced by the sacred post (representing the sacred tree), called Asherah. The two pillars in the temple of Melkarth at Tyre connoted the dualism found in nature. Still other sacred sites had groups of three pillars, apparently typifying a threefold manifestation.

See: Egypt in the news under Osiris the djed.

4th reference: At this time Tyre became foremost in Phœnicia and one of the greatest and wealthiest cities of the Mediterranean region. Its first king was Hiram, the son of Abi-Baal and contemporary of David and Solomon. His reign lasted some forty years, and to his energy Tyre owed much of its renown. He enlarged the city, surrounding it with massive walls, improved its harbors, and rebuilt the temple of Melkarth. He established a commercial alliance with the Hebrews, and his Phœnician artists and craftsmen greatly aided them in building the temple, and palaces of Solomon. He quelled the revolt in Utica and established Phœnician supremacy in North Africa where Carthage, the most important of all Phœnician colonies, was later built.

See Ezekiel Chapter 27:1-3,  The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus; And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty. Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty. See also Ezekiel 27:33-36: When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise. In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall. All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance. The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.

See also Ezekiel 28 - The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas. Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee. Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her. For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD. And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD. Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.

5th reference: - 1Kings 11:1-10 - For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father. Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods. And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

The Society of Masons are distinguished into three classes or degrees. 1st. The Entered Apprentice. 2d. The Fellow Craft. 3d. The Master Mason. The Entered Apprentice knows but little more of Masonry than the use of signs and tokens, and certain steps and words by which Masons can recognize each other without being discovered by a person who is not a Mason. The Fellow Craft is not much better instructed in Masonry, than the Entered Apprentice. It is only in the Master Mason's Lodge, that the origin of Masonry is preserved and concealed.

In 1730, Samuel Pritchard, member of a constituted lodge in England published a treatise entitled "Masonry Dissected"; and made a oath before the Lord Mayor of London that it was a true copy.  In his work he has given the catechism or examination, in question and answer, of the Apprentices, the Fellow Craft, and the Master Mason. There was no difficulty in doing this, as it is mere form. In his introduction he says, "the original institution of Masonry consisted in the foundation of the liberal arts and sciences, but more especially in geometry, for at the building of the tower of Babel, the art and mystery of Masonry was again seen, and from thence handed down by Euclid, a worthy and excellent mathematician of the Egyptians; and he communicated it to Hiram, the Master Mason concerned in building Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem."

"It is not every one that is barely initiated into Freemasonry that is entrusted with all the mysteries thereto belonging; they are not attainable as things of course, nor by every capacity." The learned, but unfortunate Doctor Dodd, Grand Chaplain of Masonry, in his oration at the dedication of Freemason's Hall, London, traces Masonry through a variety of stages. "Masons," says he, "are well informed from their own private and interior records that the building of Solomon's Temple is an important era, from whence they derive many mysteries of their art. "Now," Pythagoras brought from the East his sublime system of truly Masonic instruction to illuminate our western world. But, remote as this period is, we date not from thence the commencement of our art. For though it might owe to the wise and glorious King of Israel some of its many mystic forms and hieroglyphic ceremonies are from Egypt; yet certainly the art itself is coeval with man, the great subject of it.

"We trace," its footsteps in the most distant, the most remote ages and nations of the world. We find it among the first and most celebrated civilizers of the East. We deduce it regularly from the first astronomers on the plains of Chaldea, to the wise and mystic kings and priests of Egypt, the sages of Greece, and the philosophers of Rome."

From these reports and declarations of Masons of the highest order in the institution, we see that Masonry, without publicly declaring so, lays claim to some divine communications from the host of heaven, in a manner different from, and unconnected with, the book which we call the HOLY Bible; and the natural result from this is, that Masonry is derived from some very ancient religion, wholly independent of and unconnected with the Holy book, except that God has showed the people and rebels and false gods they worship in his word. To come then at once to the point, Masonry (as I shall show from the customs, ceremonies, hieroglyphics, and chronology of Masonry) is derived and is the remains of the religion of the ancient Druids/pagans; who worship came from the magi of Persia and the priests of Heliopolis in Egypt, which were priests of the sun. They paid worship to this great luminary, as the great visible agent of a great invisible first cause, whom they styled "Time without limits." The Egyptian religion and Masonry have one and the same common origin: both are derived from the worship of the sun. The difference between their origin, and the worship of the true God that the Christian religion worships of a man called Jesus Christ, who is the son of God, and we pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the sun by the rebellious Israelites and heathen Nations.

See Ezekiel Chapter 8: And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me. Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber. And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy. And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain. Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry. He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations. And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about. And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth. He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

In Masonry many of the ceremonies of the Druids/pagans are preserved in their original state, at least without any parody. With them the sun is still the sun; and his image in the form of the sun is the great emblematical ornament of Masonic lodges and Masonic dresses. It is the central figure on their aprons, and they wear it also pendant on the breast of their lodges, and in their processions. It has the figure of a man, as at the head of the sun, as Christ is always represented to the Christians. It is generally ascribed to the ancient Egyptians, the Babylonians and Chaldeans, and reduced afterwards to a system regulated by the apparent progress of the sun through the twelve signs of the zodiac by Zoroaster the lawgiver of Persia, from whence Pythagoras brought it into Greece. The worship of the sun as the great visible agent of a great invisible first cause, "Time without limits," spread itself over a considerable part of Asia and Africa, from thence to Greece and Rome, through all ancient Gaul, and into Britain and Ireland. The antiquity of Masonry in Britain, says, Dr Dodd that "notwithstanding the obscurity which envelops Masonic history in our country, various circumstances contribute to prove that Freemasonry was introduced into Britain about 1,030 years before Christ." The Druids/pagans flourished in Britain at the time, and the rituals of it is from them that Freemasonry is descended. "The Druids, when they committed anything to writing, used the Greek alphabet, and the Freemason Bible assert that the most perfect remains of the Druids' rites and ceremonies are preserved in the customs and ceremonies of the Masons that are to be found existing among mankind. DR, Dodd say‘s, "may be able to trace them with greater exactness than I am at liberty to explain to the public." This is a confession from a Master Mason, without intending it to be so understood by the public, that Masonry is the remains of the religion of the Druids who had the mysteries of Egypt and Phoenicia; the reasons for the Masons keeping this a secret. This was the visible object of the adoration of the Druids; all their religious rites and ceremonies had reference to the apparent progress of the sun through the twelve signs of the zodiac, and their influence upon the earth.

The Speculative infiltrated the operative mason in order to incorporate their worship into honoring their gods, so the operative adopted their same practices. The roof of their temples or lodges is ornamented with a sun, and the floor is a representation of the variegated face of the earth either by carpeting or mosaic work. Freemasons' Hall, in Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, is a magnificent building, and cost upward of 12,000 pounds sterling. "The roof of this magnificent hall is in all probability the highest piece of finished architecture in Europe. In the center of this roof, a most resplendent sun is represented in burnished gold, surrounded with the twelve signs of the zodiac, with their respective characters. "The emblematical meaning of the sun is well known to the enlightened and inquisitive Freemason; and as the real sun is situated in the center of the universe, so the emblematical sun is the center of real Masonry. We all know" that the sun is the fountain of light, the source of the seasons, the cause of the vicissitudes of day and, a gift of vegetation, the light of day; hence the scientific Freemason only knows the reason why the sun is placed in the center of his hall."

The Masons, in order to protect themselves from the persecution of the Christian Church, have always spoken in a mystical manner of the figure of the sun in their lodges, or, like the astronomer Lalande, who is a Mason, has been silent upon the subject. It is their secret, especially in Catholic countries, because the figure of the sun is the expressive criterion that denotes they are descended from the Druids/pagans, and that wise, elegant, philosophical religion was the faith opposite to the faith of the Christian Church. The lodges of the Masons, if built for the purpose, are constructed in a manner to correspond with the apparent motion of the sun. They are situated East and West. The master's place is always in the East.

The craft in the tradition of Hiram Abiff,  was simply the story of Osiris (killed by Typhon the Evil Spirit, buried in a coffin and found by Isis), to be raised by Anubis, thus being the craft by modern Masons drama. In the continuation of the story of Hiram, it is stated that the twelve crafts on discovering his body were unable to raise it, and that King Solomon ordered a lodge of master-masons to be summoned and said, "I will go myself in person and try to raise the body by the master's grip or the lion's paw. By means of this grip the Grand-Master Hiram was raised. Now in a figure painted on a mummy at the Austin Fryar's of La Place des Victores, representing the death and resurrection of Osiris, is seen an exact model of the position of the master-mason as he raises Hiram. See: Egypt in the news

Druidic mysteries were founded on those of the Egyptians, and were analogous to those of Tyre, Persia and Hindostan; and that their moral doctrines and pristine simplicity of worship were those of the Hebrew Patriarchs. It will be easy to show that those of Freemasonry, if not a mere perpetuation of the Druidic were derived from the same fountains, and that the secrets of this science and philosophy came from the same orgin....

To the Egyptian candidate on his initiation, the Hierophant displayed the holy volume of hieroglyphics which he then restored to its repository. So when the eyes of the apprentice are first released from darkness, he beholds the volume of the sacred law. During the Persian initiations, the doctrine was enforced ex cathedra, from the desk or pulpit. So the Grand Master sits on a throne before which the candidate kneels, pointing a dagger to his naked left breast and two white wands being crossed above his head. On the seal of the ancient Abbey of Arbroath in Scotland, is a representation which bears a curious resemblance to the engraving on a seal used by the priests of Isis, and which Plutarch describes in his Essay on Isis and Osiris--a man kneeling, his hands bound, and a dagger at his throat. This is seen on page 30 of the Ducan Ritual book. So mote it be!  Page 34, states: that the candidate swears never to reveal the secret art of Masonry, binding myself under no less penalty than having my throat cut across ≠ my tongue torn out by its root, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea, at low-water mark, where the tide ebbs and flows twice in twent-four hours, should I ever knowingly violate this my Entered Apprentice obligation, so help me God.

In all the ancient mysteries before an aspirant could claim participation in the higher secrets of the institution, he was placed within the pastos or bed, or coffin, and was subjected to a confinement in darkness for a certain time. This was practiced by the Druids. In some of their labyrinths, discovered in France, the remains of cells have been found, and there was a dark cell of probation recently standing near Maidstone, Kitt's Cotti House--from Ked (or Ceridwen) the British Isis, and cotti an ark, or chest. So in the initiation of a Master Mason, the candidate is in some lodges buried in a coffin to represent the death of the murdered Hiram Abiff.

The grand festival of Masonry is on Midsummer Day, which was also the grand festival of the Druids. The processional movements of the Masons as of the Druids were mostly circular. The letter jod was believed by them to denote the presence of God, especially when conveyed in a circle. Masons also have a word which they are not allowed to pronounce except in the presence of a full lodge, and they pay peculiar reverence to a point within a circle, which represents Apollo! Some of the Druidic monuments are simple circles with a stone standing in the midst, and the boss in the centre of their circular shields had probably the same signification. The Masonic Lodge, like all Pagan temples, is built due east and west. Its form is an oblong square which the ancient Egyptians believed to be the shape of the world. In the west are two pillars surmounted by globes. The one on the left is called Boaz, and is supposed to represent Osiris or the sun, the other Jachin, the emblem of Isis or the moon.

Mason Bible 1948: Question : What symbolisms in Freemasonry are represented by the sun? Answer: The sun is presented to us in Masonry, first as a symbol of light, but more emphatically as a symbol of sovereign authority, as a source of Material light, the sun reminds the mason of the intellectual and spiritual light for which he must constantly search and strive.  Question: The Cube in Freemasonry, to whom is it scared? Answer Apollo, identical with Helios, the sun god.

The T OR X  is one of the chief emblems in Masonry as it was in Druidism, and in all the Pagan religions. The Taw is a badge in Royal Arch Masonry, and almost all the other varieties of the symbol are used in Masonry.  The constellation Orion denotes the cube/diamond and the X, which form the four sides of Masonry. The cube being sacred to Apollo!  See Egypt in the News .  The key-stone of the Royal Arch upon which is supported the entire system of this mystic science is the Arch in Freemasonry that supports the binding pillars. The key and the cross-keys are also masonic symbols.

This is the key that is traditionally held by Hiram Abif, who in Masonic myth is the widow's son who was murdered before the Temple was completed. This is what I said about the three keys to Freemasonry: Traditionally there are three Grand Masters who conduct the rituals of the Temple, and each knows a different part of the secret of Freemasonry. They are Hiram, King of Tyre; Hiram Abif; and Solomon, King of Israel. Each holds one of three keys to the mystery. Hiram of Tyre holds the key to the secrets of where and what to build, Hiram Abif holds the key to the secrets of craft in building, but Solomon holds the key to understanding the purpose of  Judgement, and the Kingdom of heaven.

Athena, goddess of war with bird at top on the helmet, atop the Captiol in Washington; is her high place, also known as the goddess of wisdom, because she is associated with the owl; also scared to Freemasonry. Athena was the protector of the eye of Horus, Ra, Baal, and Osiris.  Her staff was twined by a serpent, representing the phallas goddess.

The Solomon Key is the key to the astrologers heavens, and the source of Masonic inspiration. It is the key that inspired George Washington to view the bright morning star (VENUS), at dawn and then to turn from the brightness of the East, which in Freemasonry represents spiritual inspiration, through an angle of ninety degrees, (the Mizraim rite - EGYPT) or the fourth part of a circle, to face the South. The South signifies light and knowledge, and on the evening after the rising of the bright morning star above the Capitol, the Holy Royal Arch of the Zodiac as it was at the founding of the Temple of Solomon will appear in the night sky to the South, which in the Bible always denotes EGYPT.  So the symbol of the Solomon Key will be similar to the Hiram Key with the shaft rotated through a right angle, to show that it represents the power to rule, the inspiration drawn from Masonic principles of spiritual intelligence and the knowledge of craft Masonry. This all brought together the building of the diety and the Kings power to rule the Nation (s).

The Druids, (Bohemain grove), and rebellious Jews; they worship in groves, and in the high places they do their scrifices to their gods.

See 1 Kings 14:22, 23 -  And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done. For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree. 2 Kings 23: 5-15 - And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel. And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven. And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people. And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove. And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city. Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren. And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech. And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire. And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron. And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men. Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.

Questions and Answers from Masonic Bible 1948, with the progressive steps in Masonry:

Question: Druid Stones, what are they? Answer: A mysterious circle of great upright stones at Salisbury Plain, England. On  June 21 st the sun rises directly on a line with the open end of the circle and throws a ray through it on the alter of stone. It is confirmed  that this Temple is the work of sun worshipers who inhabited Britain some 1800 years, B.C., to whom freemasons honor.

Question: Illuminati, What does it signify? Answer: The enlightened ones, and it is used on Latin diplomas, and it is the epithet of Freemasons.

Question: Hermes Trismegistus, Who was he? Answer: The Thrice Great (Enoch), A celebrated Egyptian legislator, priest, and philosopher, who lived about the year of the world 2670 B.C. From him the Hermetic Arts (SOCERCY) we have in Masonry, The Hermetic rites and Degrees.

CHIEF OF THE TABERNACLE: XXII - "Among most of the Ancient Nations there was, in addition their public worship, a private one styled the mysteries; to which those only were admitted who had been prepared by certain ceremonies called initiations. The most widely disseminated of the ancient worships were those of Isis, Orpheus, Dionysus, Ceres, and Mithras. Many barbarous nations received the knowledge of the mysteries in honor of these divinities from the Egyptians, before they arrived in Greece; and even in the British Isles the Druids celebrated those of Dionysus, learned by them from the Egyptians. The Mysteries of Eleusis, celebrated at Athens in honor of Ceres, swallowed up, as it were all the others. All the neighboring nations neglected their own, to celebrate those of Eleusis; and in a little while all Greece and Asia minor were filled with the initiates. They spread into the Roman Empire, and even beyond its limits, 'those holy and AUGUST Eleusinian Mysteries,' said Cicero, 'in which the people of the remotest lands are initiated.' Zosimus says that they embraced the whole human race; and Aristides termed them the common temple of the whole world.

 The Delphic Oracle of Apollo

PRINCE OF THE TABERNACLE: XXIV - Condensed version “Symbols were almost universal language of ancient theology. And the Sphinx held the riddles of the mysteries. And that the gods themselves, it is said discloses their intentions to the wise, but to the fools their teaching is unintelligible; And the King of the Delphic Oracle was not to declare, but on the other hand to conceal, but emphatically to intimate or signify. These are the dark saying of old from the Ancient sages that the Israelites considered it a scared duty to hand down unchanged to successive generation.

KNIGHT OF THE BRAZEN SERPENT: XXV - Condensed version “This degree is both philosophical and moral. The explanation of the symbols of Masonry. And especially to those which are connected with the ancient and universal legend of which the Om Abi is but a variation; the legend which representing a order or a death, and a restoration of life, by a drama ( THE CRAFT) in which figures, OSIRIS, ISIS, and HORUS, ATYS and CEBELE, ADONIS and VENUS, CABIRI, DIONUSOS, ATHENA, and many another reprehensive of the active passive powers of Nature, taught the initiates in the Mysteries, the rule of EVIL and DARKNESS is but temporary, and that of LIGHT and GOOD will be eternal.

Egypt, Greece, the druids and Freemasonry

The Ancient Incas, Egyptians, Greeks, Druids and Hindus were all Sun worshipers. To them the Sun was most powerful, but they greatly feared the eclipses of the Moon. To Israel if there was an ecliptic with the red blood moon, it represented a sword coming upon Israel, and the world.

In Genesis, 37:9 Joseph had a dream before his brothers sold him as a slave, that the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to him. Representing that when he was in Egypt that his Father and Mother and his eleven brethern would bow down unto him, for they would come to Egypt seeking food......See Genesis chapter 42: 9 Joseph remembered his dreams.

The priests were concerned with predicting natural events (weather, eclipses, etc.) in order to maintain their power; their efforts, however, did contribute to the development of astrology. They designed a calendar; identified the basic cycles of the sun, moon, planets and stars; also they divided their year into twelve months based on the moon’s twelve cycles during a year. In conclusion, it can be said that Egypt has played a major role in the development of astrology.

The earliest Egyptian calendar was based on the Moon's cycles. Later, however, it developed into a 365 day solar calendar around 4236 BC. when they began to notice the "Dog Star" Sirius rising next to the sun every 365 days, marking the time when the Nile river also began its annual flood tide. Egypt has had the pleasure of experiencing many different cultures in its land, which has enriched Egypt’s history and aided its people to become innovators of new ideas that would last for centuries and even on into today.

Notice the staff of the Ancient Druids. Same staff of the Pharaoh, known as the crook, or scepter of Pharaoh like a shepherd's crook, is a symbol of leadership, protection, and the fatherliness of the pharaoh. Archbishop of Canterbury displays the ''crook''. "The shepherd's crook also could turn into a serpent". The Egyptains, and the Druids were learned in the science of Magic, and were known as the greatest sorcerer's. Thus the use of power gained from the assistance or control of evil spirits. For divination and Necoromancy.

See Exodus 7:9-12

And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

Question, Mason Bible: Masonic Expression: Idicative of noon hour? Answer: High twelve.

The Egyptian religion, Greeks, Druids, and Masonry have one and the same common origin, the ancient worship of the sun. The high festival of the Masons is on the day they call St. John's day; but every enlightened Mason must know that holding their festival on this day has no reference to the person called St. John, and that it is only to disguise the true cause of holding it on this day, that they call the day by that name. As there were Masons, or at least Druids, many centuries before the time of St. John. The holding their festival on this day must refer to some cause totally unconnected with John. The case is, that the day called St. John's day, is the twenty-fourth of June, and is what is called midsummer day. The sun is then arrived at the summer solstice, and with respect to his meridian altitude or height at high noon, appears for some days to be of the same height. The astronomical longest day, like the shortest day  is not every year on the same numerical day, and therefore the twenty-fourth of June is always taken for midsummer day and it is in honor of the sun which has then arrived at his greatest height in our hemisphere, and not anything with respect to St. John, that this annual festival of the Masons, taken from the Druids; is celebrated on midsummer day.

Customs will often outlive the remembrance of their origin, and this is the case with respect to a custom still practiced in Ireland, where the Druids flourished at the time they flourished in Britain. On the eve of St. John's day, that is, on the eve of midsummer day, the Irish light fires on the tops of the hills. This can have no reference to St. John, but it has emblematical reference to the sun; which on that day is at his highest summer elevation and might in common language be said to have arrived at the top of the hill, meaning the high places....This would have it's reference as to the areopagites who worshiped on Mars hill, and the rebellious Israelites that did worship and sacrifice in heights of Bamah.

Egypt, the primeval seat of learning, was the high seat of Sun adoration. The Sphinx, with the face to the east, represents Harmachus, young Horus, or the rising Sun. The orb is Osiris, the ruling god of day. In its descent it is the dying deity going below to the land of Shades, but only to be resurrected as the victorious horns piercing the head of the dragon of darkness. Twice a year did the bright; rays enter the great hail of the Nile temple, to fall straight upon the shrine. The Assyrians, the Akkadians, the Phœnicians, Greeks, the Romans, all alike worshipped the sun; Merodach, Baal, Apollo, or Adonis and Tammuz. Bel is also the sun in Irish, as in eastern lands. Beli was their god of fire Bel-ain were wells sacred to the sun. The Irish vernal equinox was Aiche Baal tinne the night of Baal's fire. The sun's circuit was Bel-ain, or Bel's ring. See: The lost key of Freemasonry page.

The religion of the Druids as before said, was the same as the religion of the ancient Egyptians. The priests of Egypt were the professors and teachers of science, and were styled priests of Heliopolis, that is, of the City of the Sun. The Druids in Europe, who were the same order of men have their name from the Teutonic, or ancient German language; the German being anciently called Teutonic. The word Druid signifies a wise man. NOTE: German drud, wizard. "The star-led wizards haste with odours sweet." The word Druid has also been derived from Greek an oak; Celtic 'deru,' an oak and 'ndd,' lord; British 'deruidhon,' very wise men; Hebrew. 'derussim,' contemplators, In Persia they were called Magi, which signifies the same thing. Druidism embraced certain religious and philosophical ideas with particular reverence for astronomical calculations.

Deuteronomy 18:9-14, When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that
useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. For these nations which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

See: Egypt in the News page

The grand periods of initiation were quarterly and determined by the course of the sun and its arrival at the equinoctial and solstitial points. But the two main celebrations were at May-eve (May 1st), and November-eve, (November 1st) Beltane (May) and Samhain (November). At these times  fires were kindled on all the cairns and Cromlechs throughout the land, which burned all night to introduce the Festivals. Round these fires choral dances were performed in honor of the goddess and the god who were said to be rising from their tomb - the goddess at Beltane and the god at Samhain. The festivals continued from sundown on the eve of the festival and continued to the next evening when the priests and priestesses retired to the forests where lovemaking was the order of the hour.

Initiations were performed at midnight and consisted of three major degrees. The first was the Ovate, the second the Bard, and the third the Druid. The candidate was placed in a tomb, where his symbolic death represented the death of Hu, the sun; and his restoration in the third degree symbolized the resurrection of the sun. He or she had to undergo trials and tests of courage similar to those practiced in the mysteries of Orpheus.  See link: Orpheus

The Druids taught the doctrine of one supreme creative force which was personified as a mother goddess and father god. They believed in the immortality of the soul through a form of reincarnation. They also believed that the they were the possessed of the gods. Their authority in many cases exceeded that of the monarch. They were of course the sole interpreters of religion, and consequently supervised all rituals; for no private person was allowed to perform a ritual without their sanction. They possessed the power of excommunication, which was the most horrible punishment that could be inflicted next to death. They determined all disputes by a final and unalterable decision, and had the power of inflicting the punishment of death. The Druids were the teachers, professors, philosophers, lawyers and poets of the Celtic peoples. In all public and private quarrels, the Druid settled all disputes. They passed on knowledge by word of mouth.

The DRUIDS, EGYPTIANS, GREEKS, were true worshipers of APOLLO! The Sun god, and the djed (pillar), with serpent...

Aristotle (384 to 322) wrote that the Druids were "the first philosophers of the world", corroborating the earlier opinion of Pythagoras (582 to 507) that they were the wisest men ever. And Iamblichus (d. -326) revealed that Pythagoras had been "initiated into the ancient wisdom" during his stay amongst the Druids. The Druids originated from amongst the Celts, for Pliny the Elder records that "the barbarous Celts learnt the cult of the oak from the refined Greeks. At Delphi in Greece, Druid priestesses who worked the oracle near a sacred oak, across the crack in a volcanic rock or in caves, were known as "pities". As their name implies, the latter invoked the serpent of Apollo. This god was known to the Druids as Apelio. His cult had as its totem the Dragon, a wickerwork representation of which was destroyed by burning at the conclusion of cult ceremonies. The Dragon symbolized Immortality and guarded the sacred mistletoe whose berries the Druids called "tears of Apelio". These berries are also known as "Apollo's apples".

Among the Romans the worship of Apollo was adopted from the Greeks. There is a tradition that the Delphian oracle was consulted as early as the period of the kings during the reign of Tarquinius Superbus, and in 430 a temple was dedicated to Apollo on the occasion of a pestilence, and during the Second Punic War (in 212) the Ludi Apollinares were instituted in his honor. It was in the time of Augustus, who considered himself under the special protection of Apollo and was even said to be his son, (the August mystery of freemasonry; also the time the lodges are opened up) and that through Augustus worship developed and Apollo became one of the chief gods of Rome. After the battle of Actium, Augustus enlarged his old temple, dedicated a portion of the spoil to him, and instituted quinquennial games in his honor.

Augustus also erected a new temple on the Palatine hill and transferred the secular games, for which Horace composed his Carmen Saeculare to Apollo and Diana. As god of colonization, Apollo gave guidance on colonies, especially during the height of colonization, 750-550 BC. According to Greek tradition, he helped Cretan or Arcadian colonists find the city of Troy. However, this story may reflect a cultural influence which had the reverse direction: Hittite cuneiform texts mention a Minor Asian god called Appaliunas or Apalunas in connection with the city of Wilusa, which is now regarded as being identical with the Greek Helios, Illios by most scholars. In this interpretation, Apollo's title of Lykegenes can simply be read as "born in Lycia", which effectively severs the god's supposed link with wolves (possibly a folk etymology). Apollo popularly (e.g., in literary criticism) represents harmony, order, and reason - characteristics contrasted by those of Dionysus, god of wine, who popularly represents emotion and chaos. The contrast between the roles of these gods is reflected in the adjectives Apollonian and Dionysian. However, Greeks thought of the two qualities as complementary: the two gods are brothers, and when Apollo at winter left for Hyperborea he would leave the Delphi Oracle to Dionysus.

Out of Chaos comes Order, Freemason famous saying!

Pliny the Elder describes how the Druids carried out human sacrifices. Tacito wrote of "bloodied woods, priests dressed in black making terrible cries, while the women shriek, blandishing torches", Julius Caesar alluded to the sacrifices as "true hecatombs" in which the cruel Druid practice was to imprison the victims in huge wickerwork baskets before setting fire to them as a burnt offering to the gods. Apollo, as God of the Orphic religion promised his initiates salvation, that is to say, eternal life, provided they learned to identify themselves with him not only as the element Fire but with the other three elements of nature as well. The content of the 20-year long initiation period of Druidic teachings and practices required to achieve power are connected with rituals of fire and synonymous with the teachings of the Mystery Schools of Greece and Egypt. See: Original Greek and Hebrew page

There were blood sacrifice to Apollo upon the alters of Dephi, a human being or animal always had the purpose of enforcing atonement for misdeeds, offences and breaches committed. These sacrifices were not celebrated capriciously but were timed to coincide with some anniversary of the agricultural cycle and were accompanied by the temporary relaxation of social mores afterwards. In essence, the Druids were agents of the gods, and they carried out their duty as ritual executioners. In this manner they incurred no sin. Forensic scientists have stated recently that the "Bog People" victims apparently murdered 2000 years ago and perfectly preserved in peat bogs of Denmark and Britain, were sacrificial offerings of the Druids. Intestinal contents were found to contain mistletoe berries. The victims had been killed in a variety of ways, some by strangulation with a cord, others by having the throat cut from ear to ear. This is in the Ducan Ritual of Freemasonry!  See: Original Greek and Hebrew page

"The deceased Mason always faces the east, hands crosssed with Masonic apron on".

Answers and questions from the Masonic Bible:

Q. "How is the lodge situated?"

A. "East and West."

Q. "Why so?"

A. "Because all churches and chapels are, or ought to be so."

Q. "Where stands your master?"

A. "In the East."

Q. "Why so?"

A. "As the sun rises in the East and opens the day, so the master stands in the East (with his right hand upon his left breast, being a sign, and the square about his neck), to open the lodge, and set his men at work."

Q. "Where stand your wardens?"

A. "In the West.

Q. "What is their business?"

A. "As the sun sets in the West to close the day, so the wardens stand in the West (with their right hands upon their left breasts, being a sign, and the level and plumb rule about their necks), to close the lodge, and dismiss the men from labor, paying them their wages."Here the name of the sun is mentioned, but it is proper to observe that in this place it has reference only to labor or to the time of labor, and not to any religious druidical rite or ceremony, as it would have with respect to the situation of lodges East and West. I have already observed in the chapter on the origin of the Christian religion, that the situation of churches East and West is taken from the worship of the sun, which rises in the East, and has not the least reference to the person called Jesus Christ. The Christians never bury their dead on the North side of a church; and a Mason's lodge always has, or is supposed to have, three windows which are called fixed lights, to distinguish them from the movable lights of the sun and the moon. Q.  "Leland Manuscript" What is it

A.   This Masonic manuscript which dirived it's name from the statement made in its title: Certain questions and answers concerning the mysteries of Masonry written by the hand of King Henry the sixth, and faithfully copied by me, Johan Leylande Antiquarius, by command of his Highness.

                        The LeLand Manuscript

"The original is said to be the handwriting of King Henry VI. and copied by Leland by order of his highness, King Henry VIII. If the authenticity of this ancient monument of literature remains unquestioned, it demands particular notice in the present publication, on account of the singularity of the subject, and no less from a due regard to the royal writer and our author, his transcriber, indefatigable in every part of literature. It will also be admitted, acknowledgment is due to the learned Mr. Locke, who, amidst the closest studies and the most strict attention to human understanding, could unbend his mind in search of this ancient treatise, which he first brought from obscurity in the year 1796."' This production was first brought to the attention of scholars by being published in the Gentlemen's Magazine for September, 1753, where it is stated to have been previously printed at Frankfort, in Germany, in 1748, from a copy found in " the writing-desk of a deceased brother."

The document purports to be answers by some Mason to questions proposed by King Henry VI., who, it would seem, must have taken some interest in the " Mystery of Masonry," and had sought to obtain from competent authority a knowledge of its true character. The following are among the questions and answers:

Q.Where dyd ytt [Masonry] begynne ? In his Spirit of Masonry, quotes this " ancient Masonic record," as he calls it, and says that " it brings us positive evidence of the Pythagorean doctrine and Basilidian principles making the foundation of our religious and moral duties." Two of the lectures in his work are appropriated to a (discussion of the doctrines of Pythagoras in connection with the Masonic system.

But this theory of the Pythagorean origin of Freemasonry does not owe its existence to the writers of the middle of the 18th century. It had been advanced at an early period, and soon after the Revival in 1717 by Dr. Anderson. In the first edition of the Constitutions, published in 1723, he alludes to Pythagoras as having borrowed great knowledge from the Chaldean Magi and the Babylonish Jews, but he is more explicit in his Defense of Masonry, published in 1730, wherein he says: " I am fully convinced that Freemasonry is very nearly allied to the old Pythagorean Discipline.

But about the beginning of the 18th century a change took place, not only in the organization of the Masonic institution, but also in the character and qualifications of the men who were engaged in producing the modification, or we might more properly call it the revolution.

Although in the 17th, and perhaps in the 16th century, many persons were admitted into the Lodges of Operative Masons who were not professional builders, it is, I think, evident that the society did not assume a purely speculative form until the year 1717. The Revival in that year, by the election of Anthony Sayer, " Gentleman," as Grand Master; Jacob Lamball, a " Carpenter," and Joseph Elliott, a " Captain," as Grand Wardens, proves that the control of the society was to be taken out of the hands of the Operative Masons.

Among those who were at about that time engaged in the reconstruction of the Institution were James Anderson and Theophilus Desaguliers. Anderson was a Master of Arts, and afterward a Doctor of Divinity, the minister of a church in London, and an author; Desaguliers was a Doctor of Laws, a fellow of the Royal Society, and a teacher of Experimental Philosophy of no little reputation.

Both of these men, as scholars, were thoroughly conversant with the system of Pythagoras, and they were not unwilling to take advantage of his symbolic method of inculcating his doctrine, and to introduce some of his symbols into the symbolism of the Order which they were renovating.

Jamblichus, the biographer of Pythagoras, tells us that while the sage was on his travels he caused himself to be initiated into all the mysteries of Byblos and Tyre and those which were practiced in many parts of Syria. But as these mysteries were originally received by the Phoenicians from Egypt, he passed over into that country, where he remained twenty-two years, occupying himself in the study of geometry, astronomy, and all the initiations of the gods, until he was carried a captive into Babylon by the soldiers of Cambyses. There he freely associated with the Magi in their religion ;and their studies, and, having obtained a thorough knowledge of music, the science of numbers, and other arts, he finally returned to Greece. The school of philosophy which Pythagoras afterward estalablished at the city of Crotona, in Italy, differed from those of all the other philosophers of Greece, in the austerities of initiation to which his disciples were subject in the degrees of probation into which they were divided, and in the method which lie adopted of veiling his instructions under symbolic forms. In his various travels he had imbibed the mystical notions prevalent among the Egyptians and the Chaldeans, and had borrowed some of their modes of initiation into their religious mysteries, which he adopted in the method by which he communicated his own principles.

Grote, in his History of Greece, has very justly said that " Pythagoras represents in part the scientific tendencies of his age, in part also the spirit of mysticism and of special fraternities for religious and ascetic observance which became diffused throughout Greece in the 6th century before the Christian era."

Of the character of the philosophy of Pythagoras and of his method of instruction, which certainly bore a very close resemblance to that adopted by the founders of the speculative system, such cultivated scholars as Anderson and Desaguliers certainly were not ignorant. And if, among those who were engaged with them in the construction of this new and improved school of speculative Masonry, there were any whose limited scholastic attainments would not enable them to consult the Greek biographics of Pythagoras by Jamblichus and by Porphyry, they had at hand and readily accessible an English translation of M. Deicer’s life of the philosopher, containing also an "Jamblichus de Pythagorean Vita,"

Elaborate explication of his symbols, together with a translation of the Commentaries of Herodias on the Golden Verses of Pythagoras, all embraced in one volume and published in London in the year 1707, by the celebrated bibliopole Jacob Tonson. There was abundant material and ready opportunity for the partially unlearned as well as for the more erudite to obtain a familiarity with the philosophy of Pythagoras, his method of initiation, and his system of symbols.

It is not, therefore, surprising that these " Revivalists," as they have been called, should have delighted, as Anderson has done in his Defense of Masonry, to compare the two schools of the Pythagoreans and the Freemasons ; that they should have dwelt on their great similarity ; and in the development of their speculative system should have adopted many symbols from the former which do not appear to have been known to or used by the old Operative Masons whom they succeeded.

Among the first Pythagorean symbols which were adopted by the Speculative Masons was the symbolism of the science of numbers, which appears in the earliest rituals extant, and of which Dr. Oliver has justly said, in his posthumous work entitled The Pythagorean Triangle, that " the Pythagoreans had so high an opinion of it that they considered it to be the origin of all things, and thought a knowledge of it to be equivalent to a knowledge of God."

This symbolism of numbers, which was adopted into Speculative Masonry at a very early period after the Revival, has been developed and enlarged in successive revisions of the lectures, until at the present day it constitutes one of the most important and curious parts of the system of Freemasonry. But we have no evidence that the same system of numerical symbolism, having the Pythagorean and modern Masonic interpretation, prevailed among the Craft anterior to the beginning of the 18th century. It was the work of the Revivalists, who, as scholars familiar with the mystical philosophy of Pythagoras, deemed it expedient to introduce it into the equally mystical philosophy of Speculative Masonry.

In fact, the Traveling Freemasons, Builders, or Operative Masons of the Middle Ages, who were the real predecessors of the Speculative Masons of the 18th century, did not, so far as we can learn from their remains, practice any of the symbolism of Pythagoras. Their symbol, such as the vesica piscis, the cross, the rose, or certain mathematical figures, were derived either from the legends of the church or from the principles of geometry applied to the art of building. These skillful architects who, in the dark ages, when few men could read or write, erected edifices surpassing the works of ancient Greece or Rome, and which have never been equaled by modern builders, were wonderful in their peculiar skill, but were wholly ignorant of metaphysics or philosophy, and borrowed nothing from Pythagoras.

Between the period of the Revival and the adoption of the Prestonian system, in 1772, the lectures of Freemasonry underwent at least seven revisions. In each of these, the fabricators of which were such cultivated scholars as Dr. Desaguliers, Martin Clare, a President of the Royal Society, Thomas Dunckerley, a man of considerable literary attainments, and others of like character, there was a gradual increment of Pythagorean symbols. Among these, one of the most noted is the forty-seventh proposition of Euclid, which is said to have been discovered by Pythagoras, and which the introducer of it into the Masonic system, in his explanation of the symbol, claims the sage to have been " an ancient brother."

Thus, in A Search After Truth, delivered in the Lodge in 1752, the author says that " Solon, Plato, and Pythagoras, and from them the Grecian literati in general in a great measure, were obliged for their learning to Masonry and the labors of some of our ancient brethren."

Anderson's Constitutions conformed so perfectly to Masonic ideas of government that adoption followed in the Irish and Scottish Grand Lodges. In America, Benjamin Franklin issued a reprint of Anderson's Constitutions at Philadelphia in 1734 for the use of American Masons.

(12) The connection between the old constitutions of Masons and Anderson's Constitutions is not left to speculation; Anderson states that the Grand Lodge in September, 1721, "finding fault with all the copies of the old Gothic Constitutions, order's Brother James Anderson A. M. to digest the same in a new and better Method."

(13) The widespread acceptance of Anderson's and Anderson's statement that he had been ordered to compile a digest of old constitutions supports the conclusion that the climax of a long period of evolution in Masonic jurisprudence and is a positive link in conflicting the old operative to the new speculative lodges.

The government established for the Masonic fraternity under the Constitution of 1723 was a federal system. The subordinate lodges retained control of purely local lodge affairs under a set of by-laws of their own adoption and the Grand Lodge administered the general affairs of the order.  See: America Masonic Secret page

A fundamental code of law beyond the legislative power of the Grand Lodge was recognized in Article XXXIX thus: Every Annual Grand Lodge has an inherent Power and Authority to make new Regulations, or to alter these, for the real Benefit of this Ancient Fraternity; Provided always that the Old Land Marks be carefully Preserved.

(14) The principles of representative government and majority rule were adopted in Article X in these words: The majority of every particular Lodge, when congregated, shall have the Privilege of giving Instructions to their Master and Wardens, before the three Quarterly Communications hereafter mentioned, and of Annual Grand Lodge too; because their Master and Wardens are their Representatives, and are supposed to speak their Mind.

(15) The principle of electing the officers and providing a rudimentary means of protecting the ballot and elections from undo influence was established in the Grand Lodge by Article XXXIX as follows: The Grand Master and his Deputy, the Grand Wardens, or the Stewards, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Clerks, and every other person, shall withdraw, and leave the Masters and warden of the Particular Lodges alone; in order to Consult amicably about electing a New Grand Master.

(16) Section 3 of Article XII established the term of office of the Grand Officers at one year: Grand Lodge must meet Annually in order to chose every year a new Grand Master, Deputy, and Wardens.

(17) Section 2 of Article XXIX established the principle that fiscal agents are responsible to the legislative body in this manner: The Grand Wardens and the Stewards are to account for all money they receive or expend, to the Grand Lodge, after Dinner, or when the Grand Lodge shall see fit to receive their accounts.

(18) The idea of checks and balances appears in the reservation of the power to impeach the chief executive officer as implied in Article XIV: If the Grand Master should abuse his Power, and render himself unworthy of Obedience and Subjection of the Lodges, he shall be treated in a manner to be agreed upon in a new Regulation: because hitherto the ancient Fraternity have had no occasion for it, their former Grand Masters having all behaved themselves worthy of the honorable office.

(19) Majority rule, a limited executive, and universal suffrage are provided for in Section 2 of Article XII as follows: All Matters are to be determined in the Grand Lodge by a Majority of Votes, each Member having one Vote, and the Grand Master (have)? Votes, unless the said Lodge leaves any particular thing to the determination of the Grand Master for the sake of Expedition.

(20) (to be corrected, page 6 PDF file) Freedom of speech and equality of participation in discussion are guaranteed to all Masons in Article XXXVII: the Grand Master shall allow any Brother Fellow craft, or Apprentice to speak, directing his Discourse to his Worship; or to make any Motion for the good of the Fraternity, which shall be either immediately considered and finish’s , or else referred to the Consideration of the Grand Lodge at their next Communication.

(21) Though it was expected that Masonic education activity should continue to be a most important part of the work of the subordinate lodges, Article XXXVIII provided that: The Grand Master or his Deputy, or some Brother appointed by him, shall harangue all the Brethren, and give them good Advice.

(22) Article XXVIII constituted the Grand Lodge as a supreme court of appeals and arbitration, either by the body or by committee, in these words: All members of the Grand Lodge must be at the Place long before Dinner. . . in order to receive any appeals duly lodge’s that the Appellant may be heard and the Affair amicably decided; but if it cannot, it must be referred to a particular Report to the next Quarterly Communication.

(23) The basic principles of government employed in Anderson's Constitutions are: popular sovereignty by majority rule; government limited by constitution; local lodges self-governing; Grand Lodge supreme in federal system; a type of judicial review by the Grand Lodge; implied powers exist in constitutional provisions. It is impossible to state with certainty the number, if any of the principles laid down in the Masonic constitutions that had their origin in Masonry.

It seems reasonable to assume, however since builders were organized into groups or lodges at a very early period in civilized society, they might have originated some of them and certainly aided in their refinement. The origin of three basic democratic principals of government is not as important as the fact that they had been discovered, and were being practiced after 1734 in the area that became the United States. Any serious student of American history and government can identify other institutions practicing some of these same concepts, but probably no other institution was so widely distributed in the colonies as Freemasonry. Differences in religion, government, and economy, difficulties in transportation and communication, and a spirit of localism and individualism existed from north to south from east to west in varying degrees, but the basic principles of Freemasonry were identical in the approximately one hundred colonial lodges established by 1775. Not excepting the colonial governments that had so many leaders of the people in thought or in action from the local community level as were contained in the ranks of Masonry. This general acceptance by a large segment of the leaders of the people of fundamental concepts is significant in the formation of a federal union type of government and becomes doubly so when those leaders are bound to one another by fraternal ties which engender trust and confidence. Events will show that such a condition must exist in America to make union possible.

Questions & Answers from Masonic Bible 1948

The establishment of St. Johns Lodge 1733, by Henry Price, Grande Master

Question: Lodge of St. John what is it? Answer:  Masonic tradition says this was the primitive Mother Lodge, held at Jerusalem; dedicated to St. John the Baptist, and then to St. John the Evangelist and finally to both called "The Lodge of the Holy Sts. John of Jerusalem, and from this Lodge all other Lodges have decended. See: St. John Lodge Picture below, St. John Hospital in Jerusalem

For several years prior to Jerusalem’s capture, a group of Knights had acted as protectors to pilgrims to the city. At the time of the First Crusade they lived near the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem. In 1119 Hughes de Payns and Geoffrey de St Omer, incorated the group into a religious Order, the Poor Knights of the Temple of Solomon, usually known as the Knights Templar. So poor did the early Templar’s claim to be that their seals often depicted two men riding a single horse. The idea of priest-Knights soon caught on and led to a flowering of other military Orders of Chivalry. Among them were the Knights of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, who maintained leper hospitals, and the Knights of the Hospital Order of St. John of Jerusalem (the Knights Hospitallers), formed to aid sick and weary pilgrims. Some of the great dormitories they built still survive. The Hospitallers and the Templar’s acquired great wealth and built vast castles. There was little love lost between these two powerful Knightly Orders, and as such when not fighting the " infidel", they were apt to fight each other. Concerning the Insignia of these Religious Orders of Knighthood, they settled on a Cross of a particular form and colour, and some of these symbols are still familiar today, none more so than the white eight-pointed Cross of the Hospitallers, now called the Sovereign and Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem, and known as the Order of Malta. Its Members are best known for their voluntary work as the St. John's Ambulance Brigade. The Prince Grand master of the Order of Malta, quarters his family arms with those of the Order, and his shield is placed on an eight-pointed white Cross surrounded by a rosary. The whole is placed on a black princely mantle and ensigned by a princely Crown of degree. Other high-ranking prelates (notably Bailiffs Grand Cross) are entitled to bear a chief of the Order - Gules a cross Argent - and have a banner of the Order carried in procession. Protestant chapters of this Order were formed in the late 16th and 17th centuries.

Of the other religious military Orders, the most famous were the Teutonic Order of Germany and the Orders of Santiago and Calatrava, both of Spain. The Crosses of each Order have often found their way into the Heraldry of their members. The Teutonic Knights who maintained their fighting traditions by opposing tribes along the eastern Baltic, displayed a black crutched Cross (Cross potent)which told of their origins caring for the sick and wounded Knights and pilgrims who came from their homelands.

See link: The Teutonic Order

According to tradition, early in the twelfth century a wealthy German couple built a hospital in Jerusalem at their own expense to care for poor and sick pilgrims who spoke German. The hospital and an accompanying chapel were dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This story is similar to the traditions of the origin of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem founded by Amalfitans. The German hospital apparently was affiliated with the Hospital of St. John, at least, in the observance of the rule of St. Augustine. After Saladin's conquest of Jerusalem in 1187, there are no more records of the German hospital there. There was no indication that the German hospital ever had a military mission.

During the siege of Acre during the Third Crusade (probably 1190), Germans from Lübeck and Bremen established a field hospital for German soldiers reportedly using ships' sails as cover from the elements. Duke Frederick of Swabia placed his chaplain Conrad in charge of the hospital and soon transformed the organization into a religious order responsible to the local Latin bishop. Although some scholars question its authenticity, Pope Clement III (1187- -1191) apparently approved the Order on February 6, 1191. The Order was taken under Pope Celestine III's (1191--1198) protection on December 21, 1196, with the name of the "Hospital of St. Mary of the Germans in Jerusalem." The name is possibly the only connection with the earlier German hospital although some argue a more direct relationship with the earlier hospital.

A ceremony purportedly held on March 5, 1198, altered the Order's raison d'etre. The patriarch of Jerusalem, the king of Jerusalem, the head of the crusading army, and the masters of the Templar’s and the Hospital of St. John attended the celebration establishing the Teutonic Knights as a military order. A bull by Pope Innocent III (1198--1216) dated February 19, 1199, confirmed the event and specified the Order would care for the sick according to the rule of the Hospitallers. It would conduct its other business by following the Templar rule and would wear the Temple's distinctive white cloak. Its black cross would differentiate the Teutonic Order from the Temple.  Important see Link: Knight Templar found, April 2008 - Also see: Templar Article

Jolly Rouge                                                            Skull & Cross bones

"There were a few Norman-Sicilian knights of Saint John, sometimes called "Hospitallers", as early as the reign of King Roger II. It was this monarch who, in 1136, invited the Hospitallers to establish hospices in his kingdom under his sponsorship and protection. In fact the order's greatest influence in Sicily, in the form of commanderies similar to those of the Teutonic Knights and the Templars, was most felt around the beginning of the reign of Roger's grandson, Frederick II, circa 1200.  Frederick later confiscated most of Sicily's Templar commanderies, eventually assigning a few to the Hospitallers and Teutonic Knights, following an affront by the arrogant Templars during his "Sixth Crusade" in Palestine in 1228. The Master of the Order of the Temple, Pierre de Montaigu, had sent a letter to the Sultan al-Kamil suggesting the assassination of Frederick, and the sultan, who was amiable to the emperor, revealed its contents to him. Then, when Frederick's troops surrounded the Templar stronghold at Acre, the cowardly de Montaigu refused to leave the security of the castle to meet him. Frederick took seriously his rights as King of Jerusalem and King of Sicily and Holy Roman Emperor.  In 1239, when Pope Gregory IX, in a redundant excommunication, accused Frederick of despoiling Templar properties in Sicily, some Hospitaller holdings were also mentioned. However, while the Order of Saint John continued to exist on the island, the Templar presence had effectively vanished". http://www.regalis.com/malta/maltasicily.htm
                                                        King Roger II of Sicily

It is thought that the French jolie rouge (red flag) is the origination of the Jolly Roger or the Skull and Crossbone. This flag originated with the Knights Templars. After they were disolved many could not make a living except as brigands and sea pirates. Other members were skilled as masons and craftsmen. Those who had no other skills other than what they were trained for (soldiers of God), took to the seas. The flag known as the Skull and Cross-Bones was the choice of pirates long after the Crusades. The religious significance of the elite Order of the Knights Templar was turned into pirates who many feared. The skull and cross-bones signified death much like the skull and crossbones on a bottle of poison. It meant surrender to our ship or die.

The skull and two bones meant resurrection to the Knights Templar. The skull and cross-bones, alluded to Gol'gotha - "the place of the skull" - and the cross - where Jesus Christ died. The Catholic Church taught that the resurrection of man was a bodily resurrection. The Templars, contrary to the beliefs of the Church, thought that only the skull and two bones were needed to be buried for their owners to go to heaven. The skull and crossed bones were a popular motif on the graves of their fallen. When Templars turned to piracy they flew the Skull and Cross-Bones and if the ship they wanted to plunder didn't succumb, they raised the red flag, or jolie rouge. This flag meant "no quarter, or mercy, will be granted," The Templar rogues no longer answered to the pope in Rome, Italy.

It was thought that later pirates used this symbol because the ship's log, which listed those who died on board, had the skull and cross-bones at the heading of the dead list.

Ex-Templar pirates were often of high birth. Former Knights Templars, Knights of Malta, and Teutonic Knights turned to piracy to finance their orders.

The Crown Temple – Secret Society of the Third Way Order by Rule of Mystery Babylon. The Templar’s of the Crown The governmental and judicial systems within the United States of America, at both federal and local state levels, is owned by the “Crown,” which is a private foreign power. Before jumping to conclusions about the Queen of England or the Royal Families of Britain owning the U.S.A., this is a different “Crown” and is fully exposed and explained below. We are specifically referencing the established Templar Church, known for centuries by the world as the “Crown.” From this point on, we will also refer to the Crown as the Crown Temple or Crown Templar, all three being synonymous. First, a little historical background. The Temple Church was built by the Knights Templar in two parts: the Round and the Chancel. The Round Church was consecrated in 1185 and modeled after the circular Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. The Chancel was built in 1240. In 1856, the “Tomb”, a vine-covered, windowless, brown-stone hall was constructed, where to this day the “Bones men” hold their “strange, occultism” initiation rites and meet each Thursday and Sunday.  On September 29, 1876, a group calling itself “The Order of File and Claw” broke into the “Skull and Bones”’ holy of holies. In the “Tomb” they found lodge-room 324 “fitted up in black velvet, even the walls being covered with the material.” Upstairs was lodge-room 322, “the ‘sanctum sanctorum’ of the temple… furnished in red velvet” with a pentagram on the wall. In the hall are “pictures of the founders of “Bones” at Yale, and of members of the Society in Germany, when the chapter was established here in 1832.” The raiding party found another into interresting scene in the parlor next to room 322.

“On the west wall, hung among other pictures, an old engraving representing an open burial vault, in which, on a stone slab, rest four human skulls, grouped about a fools cap and bells, an open book, several mathematical instruments, a beggar’s scrip, and a royal crown. On the arched wall above the vault are the explanatory words, in Roman letters, ‘We War Der Thor, Wer Weiser, Wer Bettler Oder, Kaiser?’ and below the vault is engraved, in German characters, the sentence; ‘Ob Arm, Ob Beich, im Tode gleich.
The picture is accompanied by a card on which is written, ‘From the German Chapter. Presented by D. C. Gilman of D. 50’.”

George W. Bush is a Bonesman. In his 1999 autobiography, A Charge to Keep, he states, “My senior year I joined Skull and Bones, a secret society, so secret I can’t say anything more.”

However, the gullible nature of many in the so-called Christian right has lead them to believe he is no longer a member; that he had a Christian conversion in the late ’80s that changed his life. This is not the case. In a August 7, 2000 interview with Time magazine entitled, My Heritage is Part of Who I Am, the future president was asked:

TIME: “Do you have any qualms, say, about being in an elite secret club like bones?”
ANSWER: “No qualms at all. I was honored.”

According to the Skull and Bones, and the skulls they collect in their tomb, one was that of Jezebel of the Bible. Also the number 322 has it's place in the Scripture, that being the 322nd chapter of the Bible. That chapter relates to 2 Kings 9:35 and to Jezebel. And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the Skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.  See: America Secret Masonic History
